Summary
Diagram Lens is a Forge app for Confluence Cloud that lets users create, render, inspect, search, and export Mermaid diagrams inside Confluence pages.
Diagram Lens is designed without a vendor-hosted backend or external diagram renderer. Mermaid source is rendered client-side in the Forge Custom UI iframe. The app does not use external analytics, AI services, remote renderers, customer accounts, or vendor-hosted backend services.
Data Processed
Diagram Lens may process:
- Mermaid diagram source entered by users.
- Diagram title.
- Theme, layout, zoom, scroll position, minimap visibility, and viewer-control preferences.
- Forge macro local ID and app storage keys needed to associate a saved diagram with a Confluence macro.
- Rendered SVG in the user's browser session.
- Exported files generated by the user, such as SVG, PNG, PDF, or Mermaid source.
Users control the content they enter into Mermaid source. Mermaid source may contain business or personal information if users choose to put that information in diagrams.
Data Storage
Diagram Lens stores app-owned diagram configuration in Atlassian Forge hosted storage using the storage:app scope. Confluence macro configuration may also contain fallback configuration data required by the macro.
Stored configuration exists so the macro can render the same diagram after save, publish, and page reopen.
Data residency behavior is governed by Atlassian Forge platform capabilities and the customer's Atlassian Cloud configuration.
Data Egress
Diagram Lens does not send diagram source, rendered SVG, exports, or usage analytics to vendor-owned external services.
Data Sharing
Diagram Lens does not sell customer data.
Diagram Lens does not share diagram content with third parties through app-owned services.
Atlassian may process app data as part of operating Confluence Cloud and Forge.
Retention and Deletion
Diagram configuration is retained while the app data and corresponding Confluence content remain available.
Users can remove diagram content by editing or deleting the macro or page. Site administrators can uninstall the app according to Atlassian Cloud app administration controls.
Security Controls
Diagram Lens renders Mermaid with strict security settings, blocks risky Mermaid source patterns before render, sanitizes rendered SVG, and avoids external renderers.
More detail is available on the Diagram Lens security page.
Changes
This policy may be updated as Diagram Lens changes. Updates will be reflected by the effective date on this page.
